How many PoE ports?
Check the model number — e.g. DS-3E0105P has 4 PoE ports + 1 uplink, DS-3E1309P has 8 PoE ports + 1 uplink. Non-PoE uplink ports are used to connect the switch to your NVR or router.
What's the total PoE budget?
Listed on the datasheet — typically 60W for 4-port models and 110W+ for 8-port models. Make sure your total camera draw stays under the budget.
Will it power high-draw cameras like PTZs?
Most surveillance switches support standard PoE (15.4W per port) and PoE+ (30W per port). For Hi-PoE devices like dewarp PTZs that need 60W, check the model spec — some switches have one or two Hi-PoE ports.
Plug-and-play, or do I need to configure it?
These are unmanaged switches — plug cameras into the PoE ports and the uplink into your NVR or router, and they work immediately. No configuration required.
